Comic Shows

I've mentioned this before on a blog post but I thought I 'd bring it up again. After this weeks episodes of the Flash and Arrow, they released the preview to the 2 hour crossover episode that will air on December 1st and the 2nd. Bummed that Arrow and the Flash are not going to air a new episode next week, most likely will be a rerun or something else, but they will be coming back strong with the crossover. Compared to last years crossover, there are so much more characters on both the shows. The two episodes will introduce new characters to the shows as well as reintroduce characters that died who were either brought back to life or were never really dead.
They released an extended trailer today that shows a bit more about what the episode might be about.
We get to see our first look at Hawkman aka Carter Hall. We also see that they will also be keeping Hawkman and Hawkgirls comic book backstory in the show. Their backstory is that in their past life in Egyptian Times, both of them were royalty and married to each other but died and are now reincarnated into who they are now. It will be interesting to see how they play it out on the show. Another new character that we see for the first time is the immortal man, Vandal Savage. I think Vandal may somehow be connected to Hawkman's and Hawkgirl's past lives.
Vandal is probably one of my favorite villains because he really makes the
Justice League struggle when they both butt heads. Both these shows have had a great season so far, I am sure that this crossover episode will just make it even better.
Here is the link to the extended trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTdIbE86jbo

Also, Colton Haynes who played as Roy Harper aka Arsenal tweeted that he will be coming back to the show after his character left last season. I am very excited to see him come back because he is a phenomenal actor and he played a great Roy Harper.

Some other comic book TV show that was released on Netflix today was Jessica Jones. I do not know much about Jessica Jones but I do know she is a badass detective. This show is a great way to introduce the character as well as other characters in the show like Luke Cage who will be getting his own show in the future. Some people are saying that this show is even better than Daredevil which is a lot to say because I have only heard good things about Daredevil.

Lots of cool things have been released and announced lately.
Yesterday, my favorite subscription box, Loot Crate, released their anime crates to order. Every month they release different themes and put items related to the theme. For example, their regular subscription had a theme called Villains 2 (Second time they did the villains theme). I signed up for the crate and got some really cool things. Here is a photo below from rgj.com of the crate that I got earlier this year.

The only difference in some crates were the mugs. I got the Carnage one.
The theme for the anime subscription boxes this month is called Brawl. It will be exciting to see what will be in these crates. It is definitely worth the money and you get a nice surprise. The crates themselves are nicely decorated too.

Yesterday after the Flash was over, they showed a preview to the Arrow/ Flash crossover that is happening in two weeks! It will introduce the Legends of Tomorrow and of course a new villain who was shown in the preview. That villain is none other than Vandal Savage, the immortal man. Ever since the last crossover they had last season, I have been looking forward to them doing another crossover but never expected them to have so many more people part of it.

Wonder Woman movie

In my last blog, I talked about how Wonder Woman was going to start filming soon in the UK which they have but to my surprise, it seems like they are really trying to keep the movie under wraps. What I mean by that is that they are trying to keep information about the movie a secret and try not to have people leak out anything. It is still pretty early for anything to be leaked out but over the weekend, an actor named Saïd Taghmaoui who is said to be playing a superhero which has not been revealed yet posted some photos with Chris Pine, who may be playing as Steve Trevor.
 saidww

Nobody even knew that Saïd  was going to be in the movie until he posted the picture(s) on Facebook, which seems to have been taken down now. He also told a magazine outlet that he will be playing a superhero role in the movie.
After I read that he would be playing a superhero, I started to think who he may be playing as. Nothing came to mind until I someone mention in a post that he may be playing as John Zatara, who is the father of the well known Justice League member, Zatanna.
Young Justice version of Zatanna and her father
After reading it, I thought it would make sense if he were to play as Zatara. I mean he does look similar to Zatara but we will find out eventually which superhero character he will be playing.

It will be interesting to see if Wonder Woman will be able to keep up with keeping lots of details of the movie a secret.

Friday the 13th

It has been a pretty horrible day but some DC comic related news made it a bit better.
Batman vs Superman is starting to release some merchandise like the shirts pictured below.
 gothamguardianh

These shirts are just 2 out of 4 that have been made. I am positive that there will be more shirts involving this movie released once the release date for the movie starts to get closer. It is starting to feel more real every second that this movie is actually happening and just the beginning to many more DC movies being made later on.

I do not know if I mentioned this before but Wonder Woman is going to start shooting soon/ has already started filming for the movie in the UK so I expect to see some photos of Gal Gadot, who is playing Wonder Woman, in the mere future.
It has also been revealed that production for Justice League part one will start early next year! It almost feels so surreal that we will soon be seeing a live action Justice League on the big screen.
Heroic Hollywood also have reported that there will be another female character in Justice League part one besides Wonder Woman. I do not want to spoil it for those so here is the article to the rumor. Hope she won't be the only that is rumored to be in the movie. http://comicbook.com/2015/11/12/justice-league-part-one-to-reportedly-include-debut-of-another-d/

I will now leave you with this amazing photo from the much anticipated Arrow/The Flash crossover which will introduce the Legends of Tomorrow!!

Animated Movies

Waking up is always a hassle especially on a Monday but waking up to a new trailer to the new Batman movie, Batman: Bad Blood, makes waking up on a Monday all worth it. The movie is basically a squeal to Batman vs Robin, the second batman movie after Son of Batman. It seems like the movie is taking part of a comic where Dick Grayson, the first boy wonder, taking up Bruce's Batman mantle because, if I am not mistaken, Bruce got terribly injured.
Two more Bat family characters will be introduced in this movie which are Batwoman, also known as Kate Kane and Batwing who is also known as Luke Fox and yes, he is related to Lucius Fox whom many recognize from the Batman Nolan films. Glad to see the Bat family growing more and more. It would be lovely to see more characters from the Bat family join them in other movies like Cassandra Cain, Barbara Gordon, Jason Todd and Tim Drake. The movie is being released on January 19, 2016 with three different versions. One of them even includes a Nightwing action figure and is a limited edition. Here's the trailer if you'd like to check it out:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-0bQpHlpdQ

The limited edition box with Nightwing figure
There's another Batman movie in the works but this one involves them being Legos. On a previous blog, I mentioned that Rosario Dawson is going to voice Batgirl in the movie, which I am looking forward to a lot but this next casting to another character is just something else. Supposedly, Mariah Carey willing be voicing Jim Gordon in the Batman Lego movie. I do not know how I feel about this. It has not been confirmed yet so hopefully she is playing a different because I don't see Mariah voicing the tough police commissioner.

Comic News of the week

I want to start off by saying how awesome it was of the people at Disney, Lucasfilms and the director himself, J.J. Abrams, for screening the new Star Wars movie to a fan who was diagnosed with an untreatable cancer and was not sure if he would make it to the time the movie comes out. The Star Wars fan's wife decided to make a campaign which lead to many people including the stars of the movie tweeting #ForceForDaniel. It was incredible seeing so many people come together to get the fans final dying wish granted.

Other awesome thing that happened this week was Matt Ryan guest starring in Arrow. Matt Ryan played as John Constantine, who is also known as Hellblazer, on Constantine on NBC. After it's first season, NBC decided to cancel the show and left many Hellblazer fans disappointed. The abrupt cancellation of the show caught some people's eyes from the CW show, Arrow. After fans and even the actors on the show pushed for Constantine to be a guest on the show, it finally happened. This past week, Arrow's episode involved the Hellblazer and it was probably one of the best episodes ever since season four started. He was as witty and sarcastic as ever. I didn't catch this when I saw the episode but there was a part where Constantine asked for a peacock feather which he used to scratch his back and that scene was to say that NBC. who is known for their peacock colors hence the feather Constantine had, was stabbing Matt Ryan in the back by cancelling the show.
After the episode ended, it left many fans, including me, wanting more. I hope somehow Matt Ryan can become a regular on the show because he definitely brought it together.

Cosplay

Cosplay is defined by Google "as the practice of dressing up as a character from a movie, book, or video game". It has gotten very popular as the years go by especially at cons or expos. One of the great things about cosplay is that no matter how old you are or what gender you are, you can cosplay as any character from their favorite movie, TV show, etc. Most cosplayers make their costumes from scratch which is amazing especially after they are done putting them together because the end result is just incredible.
Here are some photos of different cosplayers from Comikaze this past weekend from LA Weekly:
Hulkbuster Iron Man

In cosplay, there is no limit to your imagination. You can become who ever you want. For example, in the photo below, the women are dressed up as male superheros and the men are dressed as female superheroes.

or this cosplayer dressed up as the female version of Thor's brother, Loki

Like I said earlier, there is no limit to who you want to dress up as. You can even mix two characters together like the person in the photo did below with Spider-Man and Captain America.

It's amazing what people can come up with and create with just their imaginations. No matter how simple they may be or vice versa, all cosplay is pretty amazing. I encourage you to check out more pictures of cosplayers because it will amaze you.
